Fell again.
This week has been quite a mix. I’ve gotten to the point in River Bear where I can see the end from where I am. I have until, basically, Wednesday night to get there. How did Valentine’s Day arrive so quickly?
But I’ve been reading this week. And not novels. We’re contemplating several major changes in our lives right now and one of them is potentially homeschooling. My buddy Shriek has homeschooled her boys for years and is also able to use a lot of public services for her special needs guy. Blog-buddy Eva Gale has seven! (yes, that’s 7) hatchlings and she’s also been homeschooling for a long time. So I’ve been doing a lot of studying on the apparently eighteen million different ways to combine methods and curricula and still keep the kids aimed in the right direction. Let’s just say that I expect this summer to be really interesting. Also, I’m just grateful for libraries right now. I’ve read about 8 books about homeschooling this week and I requested a couple more. It’s actually a lot more efficient and effective than doing all the research online. Especially since a lot of online sources tend to say things like “Go read this book.”
I’ve hardly been online at all this week, though, so don’t feel too left out. Missed you! Hope to do better next week.

*sending positive thoughts your way*
Thank you! I need all the prayers and positive thoughts I can get!
Hey Sela!
I must tell you that not only do I enjoy homeschooling, my boys do as well.
As a side note-let me tell you that the most expensive cirriculum is not always the best one for your child(ren). It helps to take the time to throughly look over several types before beginning your school year. Two of our boys do their work on the computer while the youngest uses all textbooks. I would be more than happy to talk to you more about it later!
Aside: I admire the hell out of any parents willing to commit to the effort of homeschooling. Hat’s off to you ladies and gents, honestly.
(If I had had to homeschool my kidlets, I don’t think we would have all survived it, honestly.)
Man, I want a name like Shriek. Screamer? Shrill?
And I’m with the save your $ on curriculums thang. But we talked about that and the cost of my mistakes.
I coulda bought myself a few pairs of Manolos or CLs with it.
I found out there’s going to be a h/s conference just down the road from me this April. I figure that’ll be a good chance for me to check out a lot of different things before I buy. Yay!
Shriek was my college roommate. It’s more a play on her name than a personality trait. She’s quieter than I am.
Which, you know, isn’t saying much. But still. LOL
